What load capacity do industrial shelving units have?

Our industrial shelving units have load capacities ranging from 200kg to 900kg per shelf depending on the model. Light duty units suit workshop and archive storage (200-300kg), medium duty suits warehouse picking (400-500kg), and heavy duty boltless racking handles pallet-sized loads (up to 900kg per shelf).

What is the difference between boltless shelving and pallet racking?

Boltless shelving uses clip-together frames and shelves without nuts and bolts — ideal for hand-picking, archive storage and workshop use. Pallet racking is engineered for heavier loads accessible by forklift, with open bays designed to store pallets at height. Pallet racking requires floor anchoring and SEMA racking inspection.

How often should industrial racking be inspected?

The HSE recommends that storage racking is inspected at least annually by a competent person (SEMA trained inspector) and that a regular user inspection is carried out weekly. The Storage Equipment Manufacturers' Association (SEMA) Code of Practice and HSE guidance document HSG76 set out the requirements.

Can I adjust the shelf heights on industrial shelving?

Yes, all our industrial shelving units have adjustable shelf heights at 50mm or 75mm pitch intervals. Shelves can be repositioned without tools on boltless systems, or by repositioning the beam pins on pallet racking bays.

What colour is industrial shelving usually supplied in?

Most industrial shelving is supplied in RAL 7035 light grey powder coat finish, which is the standard for warehouse and industrial environments. This finish provides good corrosion resistance and is compatible with other warehouse equipment. Custom colours are available on larger orders.
