What is coir matting made from?

Coir matting is made from coconut fibre (coir) extracted from the husk of coconuts. The fibres are woven into a mat, typically 17-22mm deep. Coir is a natural, biodegradable material with excellent scraping properties and natural anti-bacterial qualities.

Can coir matting be used outdoors?

Coir matting is suitable for covered outdoor areas — porches, canopied entrances and covered walkways. For fully exposed outdoor positions, rubber-backed outdoor mats with UV-stable polypropylene pile are a more durable choice.

What widths is outdoor matting available in?

Our outdoor matting rolls are available in standard widths of 0.9m, 1.0m, 1.2m, 1.5m and 2.0m and can be cut to any length. Custom sizes are available — contact us with your required dimensions.

What temperature range can outdoor rubber mats withstand?

Our outdoor rubber mats are rated for continuous use from -30°C to +80°C. They will not crack or become brittle in frost, and will not soften or deform in summer heat.

How do I clean outdoor matting?

Shake or vacuum coir mats regularly. Hose down periodically and allow to dry completely — never leave saturated. For rubber outdoor mats, brush off loose dirt and hose or pressure wash. A mild detergent can be used for heavy soiling.
