30mm Rubber Playground Safety Tiles – 1m x 1m
Heavy-duty rubber impact tiles for garden play areas, nurseries, schools and public playgrounds. Each tile covers exactly 1m², lays onto a firm, level base and gives children a cushioned, non-slip surface that drains quickly and stays usable all year round – no muddy grass, no bark to top up.
Is 30mm the right thickness for your play area?
Playground surfacing is chosen by the free height of fall of your equipment – the highest point a child could fall from (platform, seat or top rung). As a general BS EN 1177 guide:
- 30mm tiles – typically suit a critical fall height of around 1.0m: toddler slides, low climbing frames, springers, playhouses and sandpit surrounds.
- Taller equipment (standard swings, large climbing frames) needs a thicker tile – call or use Request a Quote and we'll recommend the right depth.
- No fall height (paths, walkways, general anti-slip areas) – our 17mm interlocking rubber playground mats are a lower-cost option.
Always check the fall height stated by your equipment manufacturer, and extend the surfacing at least 1.5m beyond the equipment on every side a child could fall from (further in front of and behind swings).
Key features
- Size: 1000mm x 1000mm x 30mm – 1 tile = 1m²
- Impact absorbing: dense, resilient rubber cushions falls and trips
- Non-slip: textured top surface grips in wet and dry conditions
- Free draining: studded underside lets rainwater run away – no puddles or standing water
- All-weather: resists frost, rain and UV for year-round outdoor use
- Low maintenance: sweep, leaf-blow or hose clean
- 5 colours: Jet Black, Charcoal Grey, Rustic Red, Forest Green and True Blue – mix colours for paths, borders and play patterns
How many tiles do I need?
Measure your area in metres and multiply length x width – that is the number of tiles. Example: a 3m x 4m play area = 12 tiles. Add a few extra if you need to cut around posts or curves.
Installation
- Base: lay on a firm, level, free-draining surface – concrete, tarmac, paving or a compacted Type 1 sub-base. Do not lay directly onto grass or soil.
- Fixing: butt tiles tightly together and bond to the base and to each other with polyurethane adhesive so they cannot lift or move.
- Cutting: cut to shape with a sharp knife or jigsaw to fit around posts and edges.
- Edges: finish exposed edges with the Safety Ramp (500mm length) option above to remove the trip step.
Ideal for
Garden play areas • Nurseries and schools • Public and community playgrounds • Under slides, climbing frames and play towers • Outdoor gyms and fitness areas • Patios and poolside areas
