Choosing the right option

Black is the safer choice for industrial and high-traffic settings: it hides scuffs from boots and trolleys and frames grey safety flooring cleanly. Dolphin Grey is the colour most often specified in healthcare and education interiors, reading softer against pale walls and speckled vinyl.

To estimate quantity, measure the room perimeter, subtract door openings, then allow roughly 10% extra for corners and trimming. One coil covers 15 linear metres, so a 4m x 5m room with one doorway is comfortably a single-coil job. Note that this is a sit-on profile fitted after the flooring; if your vinyl is being coved up the wall, you need a set-in or capping system instead, so check the flooring specification before ordering.

Installation, use and care

Unroll the coil and let it relax flat before fitting. Mark a level pencil line at 100mm, apply contact adhesive to the wall and the back of the skirting, let it tack, then press the profile home with the toe tight to the floor. Cut with a sharp utility knife; internal and external corners can be cold-formed or mitred. Clean with neutral detergent and a damp cloth, avoiding solvent cleaners and abrasive pads.

Is adhesive included?

No. Fix with a good-quality contact adhesive from any builders' merchant. Solvent-free grab adhesives also work on porous walls if you support the skirting while they cure.

Will it bend around curved walls?

What is the difference between sit-on and set-in skirting?
